THE STORY

My Corvette Story

Badnboujee

I saved this 81 Corvette from the junk yard. Here is the story:
I did not have money to be spending at the time. However, I saw this car in craigslist. It was very dull, kind of a pink, sitting on a trailer. The listing said, make an offer.

Sitting in the back of my truck at a taco stand, I was like what the heck, I am calling just to see. The guy said make an offer. I said, I am about 10 hours from you, just tell me your bottom line. He said $4500. Long story short, he finally said, $1000 after several askings. I said, $1,000? He said Yes. I said give me a few minutes and I will call you back. I mentioned it to my wife and being realistic, she said we don't have $1000 to be spending right now. I was like we need to do it. She finally said ok.

I called him back and said I am coming to get it. I will bring a trailer and will not come back empty handed. He said, if I put plugs in and it fires up I am asking more. I said leave it as is I will be there tomorrow. He said ok.

When I got there, I was super excited. Real nice guy and he told me the history of it. His x son in law died of cancer. He had it sitting for 8 years. He signed the title and the family did not know what to do with it so were going to pay a junk yard $275 to take it. However, the x father in law (who I bought it from) said hey, give me the title and the car and yoiu dont have to pay anyone. They agreed.

He got it to dismantle it and put the rear end in his old 30s street rod. He did not like Vettes and his wife did not like red. Got the 81 Vette home, put plugs in and 15 minutes later, varooom! Purred like a kitten. Had flat spots on the tires, so put some tires on it.

My son and daughter drove it to high school and we still have it today, enjoying the heck out of it.
